Great opportunity to get involved with an educated two-year-old at an affordable price.

About the pedigree:
The colt is by Prized Icon who was a racehorse every owner would love to own. He was a dual group 1 winner, runner up to Winx on one occasion and winner of over $2.1 million in prizemoney he was brilliant enough to race in the early two-year-old races whereby most two year old sprinters struggle to get over distance Prized Icon excelled in winning the 2016 VRC derby. He stood his first season at stud in 2020 and his first crop have just turned two. This colt is out of Silver Flash who has had one foal to race which has recorded 4 wins. She is also a half to a group winner.

About the breeze: This colt breezed up in 11.19 seconds for his 200m split. There were times in the breeze up which were marginally quicker than his by a few tenths of a second but what impressed me the most was his stride length. His stride length was above average for the sale with each stride being measured at 7.53 metres. Some horses have recorded quicker times, however, over the course of a 1200m race a horse with a shorter stride is going to fatigue a lot quicker and whereas a lot of people get caught up on times I much prefer stride length as it makes the horse more economically efficient. I also liked the way he wanted to beat his gallop companion and stuck his head out to try and get in front.

About the horse: The horse is a bay colt with some white markings on his head and is an 8th of November foal which means at the time of his breeze up he wasn’t even officially 2 yet which indicates plenty of improvement. He has been bred and raised at Kooringal on brilliant pasture and Blake Ryan who is one of the best horseman in Australia has started the colt and breezed him up which means he has been given the best start to his life.

About his siblings: As I mentioned earlier the mare has had one foal to race for 4 wins. She also has two other foals whom have both came through my breaking system and I have been very fond of them. Prized Icon is a new sire on the block and as I have had broken in over 40 Prized Icons this year, I find them to be very smart intelligent animals.

About the trainer: Darrell is a new enthusiastic young trainer whose passion is racing. He graduated from Charles Sturt University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Equine Science and then started his career by breaking and educating horses. Darrell has built up one of the biggest breaking stables in NSW and breaks in over 100 horses a year for clients all around Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Since Darrell started training he has a 17 percent win strike rate and a 46 percent place strike rate which means almost half our runners come in the top 3. Darrell provides regular updates to all owners and prides himself on taking great care of your racehorse. This season alone we have a 60 percent win strike rate and a 100 percent strike rate from 5 runners.

About prizemoney in NSW: Prizemoney in NSW is the best out of any state in Australia. A country boosted maiden race is worth $15,000 to the winner. Other initiatives for country trained gallopers are TAB Highway races which are ran every Saturday and are worth $55,000 to the winner and Country Championship heats worth a total of $150,000. The Country Championships Final for horses who qualify is worth $500,000.

Future plans: After a busy few months for this young colt he is going to have a well deserved break at Kooringal and will return to the stables in mid January with an aim to be racing in the 2 year old race at the Wagga Carnival. This isn’t a guarantee but is however what Darrell is aiming for.

About the price: He was purchased for $25,000 which is a steal considering the average earnings of horses that have come from the Inglis ready to race sale is just under $85,000. This is 26% more than graduates from other sales in Australia. He is already broken in as well which saves around $3,000.
